Sara Pankenier Weld researches childhood across national and disciplinary boundaries, including in literature, culture, and theory. Her specializations include Russian/Slavic literature, Scandinavian literature, North American literature, comparative literature, and world literature; avant-garde literature, art, and theory; Vladimir Nabokov; Indigeneity and childhood; word and image; and childhood studies, children’s literature, and picturebooks. Her comparative and interdisciplinary interests are wide-ranging, but oftentimes childhood, infancy, and the infantile figure centrally within her research, whether this interest takes her scholarship into literature, culture, history, art, or film; literary and cultural artifacts from the 13th to 21st century; modernism and the avant-garde; or children's literature and picturebooks.
