Research interests include: narrative, mind-brain theories, psychoanalysis, cognitivescience, neuroaesthetics, comedy, 19th-century English novel, Hollywood film of the 1930s and '40s, & philosophical criticism. Kay Young's books include: Ordinary Pleasures: Couples, Conversation, and Comedy (2002), on Intimacy and happiness innarrative, and Imagining Minds. The Neuro-Aesthetics of Austen, Eliot, and Hardy (2010), on the 19th-century English novel and theories of mind-brain. Kay is an academic fellow of the Institute of Contemporary Psychoanalysis, LA. Her current book project is on attachment, separation, loss, and literature.
