Comparative Literature is proud to support this year’s UCSB Reads selection, Your Brain on Art: How the Arts Transform Us by Susan Magsamen and Ivy Ross. This interdisciplinary book demonstrates how our brains and bodies transform in profound ways when we participate in the arts, and how this knowledge can improve health and build stronger communities. Throughout the winter and spring quarters, the Library will sponsor panel discussions, film screenings, exhibitions, and other programming. Many people will be reading Your Brain on Art in their courses and book clubs. For an evolving list of event details, visit https://guides.library.ucsb.edu/ucsbreads2024/events. We strongly encourage our students and faculty members to get involved, whether by attending these events, hosting their own, or integrating parts of the book into their classes.
